A Spa Review: Spa Treat for Finals

6/05/2016

Hi, dear readers!

If you have been following me on Instagram you would know that I've just finished Law School. Juggling life has been difficult and occasionally, I would treat myself to a pampering spa session to relax. While I was at the spa the other day, I Snapchat about my time and a few of my followers asked me to blog about it. So, here I am, granting your wish.

"Urban Retreat Spa, with branches in both Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, boasts a treatment menu with massages including aromatherapy, Thai style and deep tissue, along with a lymph drainage massage that uses the spa’s signature candle massage oil to warm, work and invigorate the whole body for through-and-through detoxification. Body spa treatments include full body scrubs, masks and wraps and use of the Jacuzzi."

I have been here twice. The branch I went to is at Lot 157, 1st floor, The Curve Shopping Mall, 6 Jalan PJU 7/3, Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. You can check them out on their Facebook page here.

On my recent trip, I tried the Body Massage and Body Scrub (The Urban Glow worth RM249). I waited for awhile in the  waiting area and drank loads of ginger tea, my favourite. Then, I was asked which package I wanted, and they asked me to choose a scrub. The choices were Coffee Aseana, Coconut Creme and Green Tea Rice. I went with Coconut Creme because I love the fragrance best.

It starts off with soaking our feet for 5-minutes. Then, I was led to a room where I had to change into a robe. They started with the body scrub for half an hour. After that, I had to take a shower. And then, I had a massage for an hour.

I love the body scrub because it makes me feel super clean after. I do this at least once a year. Basically, they scrub your whole body, so you would be exfoliated all over to allow new skin cell to grow.

However, for the massage, I felt like the masseuse was not firm enough. For a spa treatment, it was fine, although I prefer the more traditional, back-breaking kind, especially since I was in the middle of a very stressful period. I have been going for massages since I was a kid because my grandmother used to give us all a massage. She's a professional Malay traditional masseuse. So I'm used to the kind that is so painful you feel it in your nerves. But if you prefer a less intense treatment, this place is great!

Here's their 'menu'. They even have packages of 4 massages with vouchers or memberships with similar kind of plan for your annual package shopping. I buy these all the time and usually I would be able to share it with my sister.

I'm going again, soon. Anyone wants to come with me? It'll be on me the first round! Hehe. Now that I've graduated, I'll be having a lot of free time on my hands. Hmmm. What should I do now?

xoxo,
Sya.
