#stylebysyaGIVEAWAY : A Short Film on Current Issues and a Dinner Treat
3/09/2015
I just realised that stylebysya.com has passed it's one year mark last month! So as a token of appreciation to my wonderful readers, I would like to have my first ever giveaway: A dinner at any chosen restaurant in Ipoh/KL! If you want to win a free meal, all you have to do is help me out with my short film assignment.
For my assignment with A Talent Academy, I have to write and direct (and maybe even ACT) in a short film. Basically, the film has to have a message or value, addressing a current issue among youth. We will be producing a series of short films, directed by different talents each. Everyone has their own team and theme.

The theme for my assignment is "Over-sharing on social media, but fake."
How do I do THAT?
The filming will begin in April and I have to submit the storyboard real soon. But, currently, everything I write is so bland. So, I really need help! I'm looking for inspirations and ideas. And I want to know what are your thoughts on this issue: What is over-sharing to you? Where do you draw the line? How far have you or anyone you know crafted (read: faked) your social media life? It can be your thoughts on the matter, your personal experience or even an interesting story you've heard.
And because I really need the help, I will treat the person with the most interesting story to a dinner at a restaurant of his/her choice!
So here's what to do: Simply leave a comment below along with your email address and name.
Send in your story before 22nd March 2015. Good luck!
I have only just been informed about my non-existent comments section. Thank you to my readers for informing. I have fixed the problem and I am looking forward to reading your comments and ideas.

Oversharing happens very often as we all love to be talked about and to be praised about our happening life, our frequent holidays abroad, that fancy dinner we went to last night. I know someone who's whole life revolves around Instagram. She lives in Europe but her OOTDs make it seem otherwise. Sometimes she's wearing shorts or a very thin top in them and initially I was like "Girl, you are so strong, braving the cold weather in those clothes. I can't even leave my hotel without 5 layers of clothes and a thick scarf around my neck in winter". Surprisingly, when I met up with her last December in Netherlands, she was all wrapped up in a thick winter jacket, knee high boots and thick scarves. The funny part is, I saw a picture she posted on Instagram in the morning with the caption "Off to meet my childhood friend!" And she was wearing a strappy sandal and a light chiffon top. I tried to hold in my laugh the whole time hehe.

When people know of when and where you shave your nose hair
ReplyDeleteWhen its easier to get to know someone from their online musings rather than a conversation
When the pages of your book are already written out in black and white... and cream.
Where is the mystery.
Isn't life but a dream.
P. S would also suggest looking at youtuber Jaltoid getting to know social media.

I know a girl who loves to post on Instagram photos of her different designer handbags. But actually, the handbags are not hers but her friends and mother. This world is fake and pretentious.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcPi2qKh3Vw Michelle Phan actually addressed some of it with like nice big sister advice on her latest YouTube video. All the best for your assignment, PM me if you need help! It's been some years since I've been involved in film/acting but I could help you brainstorm with this.
ReplyDeleteHmm.. This sounds interesting!! I guess a lot of people try to make their life seem MORE fabulous via social media. The thing I find is common among most is taking loads of photos whilst on vacation just to make it seem like they're having "SO MUCH FUN." #DontYouWishYouWereMe #SucksToBeYou. Padahal, mungkin they're just miserable on the trip pun. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI want that dinner with you. Ahem (;
